A Profile of Rev. Dr. Simon CH Wong

Rev. Dr. Simon Choon Heng Wong joined the Ampang Chinese Methodist Church in 1966 and became a Christian in 1970. Touched by God's Spirit, he received baptism on 23rd. April 1972 and was called to full-time ministry in 1975. He did his theological training at Trinity Theological College Singapore. Thereafter, he joined the Chinese Annual Conference, Methodist Church in Malaysia. Basically English-educated, he had learnt enough Cantonese and Mandarin to enable him to serve bilingual congregations throughout his 27 years of pastoral ministry.

Rev. Wong was Senior Pastor of Cantonese Methodist Church Kuala Lumpur (1998-2001), Pastor of Cantonese Methodist Church Ipoh (1991-1997), Pionner of Tapah Wesleyan Chapel (1986 to 1990), Supply Pastor of Kampar Chinese Methodist Church (1984-1985) and Assistant Pastor of Cantonese Methodist Church Kuala Lumpur (1980-1983).

He was elected a member of the Board of Ministry and Chairman of the Board of Youth Ministry (1995-1998 and 1999-2002). He was appointed by the CAC President as Conference Youth Director for three terms. During his tenure, he provided leadership in mobilizing many Conference projects and ministries such as the setting up of MY-CLUB, organizing the World Chinese Methodist Youth Convention and Isaiah School (which was officially adopted by the Annual Conference in 1998). He represented CAC in the Board of Governors of Methodist High School in Ipoh (1993-1997) and Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (1998-2001).

On 19th. January 2002, Rev. & Mrs. Simon Wong and children Joel and Lydia went to PSR Berkeley, California, USA for further studies. By God's grace, Rev. Wong successfully completed his Master of Thelogical Studies in May 2004 and the Doctor of Ministry in May 2006. His doctorate dissertation was on Pastoral Leadership.

While studying in PSR, Rev. Wong was given warm reception and appointment by California-Nevada Annual Conference, United Methodist Church, USA, serving Fremont First United Methodist Church for one year (July 2002-June 2003), and Sacramento Chinese United Methodist Church for four years (July 2003-June 2007).

Since their return from USA, Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Simon Wong decided to dedicate their next ten years to establishing Creative Grace Ministries for the glory of God. Rev. Dr. Wong has chosen to give full time focus on the ministries of resource development and leadership training and missions, moving beyond the four walls of a local church to serve the larger Chrsitian community and general public.

黄雅各牧师(Rev James Wong Shin) 乃安邦堂会友。黄牧师乃是我们安邦堂第一位献身成为全时间事奉的传道人；祖籍福建惠阳，生于1940年12月23日，1968-1972就读新加坡三一神学院。 1976年结婚，1972年加入华人年议会，并于1977年于波德申举行年议会被按立长牧，成为年会正式会员。黄牧师牧会谈冰堂(1975)，拉美士堂(1973)，东甲堂(1976)，文东堂，怡保堂和金保堂。黄牧师最后于2000-2005牧会实眺远三一堂，2005年华人年议会结束后正式退休。退休后黄牧师还是继续服务教会，在卫理教会担任牧师，照顾羊群，毫不言休。

3. Rev Henry Yong

REV HENRY YONG WEI CHOONG

Rev Henry Yong Wei Choong, born 11th Feb. 1951. His home church is our beloved Ampang Chinese Methodist Church. He was president for MIF and MYF in Ampang church in the 1960 and early 1970. His calling was originated in 1970 at a Keswick Meeting at Bukit Bintang Girls School Hall @ speaker was Dr. Alan Redpath. Rev Henry Yong received his Theological Studies at Singapore Bible College 1974 -1977. He received his Bachelor of Theology at 1977. He then further study in Trinity Theological Seminary 1981 – 1983 and received his Bachelor of Divinity in 1983. Rev Yong also spend some years in part time study in Regent College Vancouver (1995) and Fuller Theological Seminary (2005).

Our beloved Rev Yong has faithfully served our LORD in Methodist church Trinity conference in Kampong Kapar Methodist Church (1978 – 1980), Fairfield Methodist Church Malaysia (1981 – 1983), Christ Methodist Church Bentong (1983 – 1989), Wesley Methodist Church Kulim (1990 – 1994), Wesley Methodist Church Butterworth (1993 – 1994), Wesley Methodist Church Klang (1995 – 2000) & he is currently serving the LORD in Wesley Methodist Church Sitiawan (2001-2008).
